Community Guidelines

Thank you for being part of our community. To ensure the best possible experience for all users, we have established some basic guidelines for participation.

Deans, staff, and faculty of all AACN member schools have the ability to participate in AACN Connect. If you do not wish to participate, you may opt-out of the community platform at any time within your MyAACN profile.

By remaining a member and using this community, you agree that you have read and will follow these rules and guidelines. You also agree to reserve discussions and shared files and content best suited for this medium. This is a great channel to share your experiences, seek advice from your peers, and participate in trending topics and discussions related to academic nursing.  Any questions about these guidelines should be directed to our Faculty Initiatives department at

In order to preserve a climate that encourages both civil and fruitful dialogue, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate membership in this community for anyone who violates these rules.

The Rules

  • Do not challenge or criticize others. The discussions and comments are meant to stimulate conversation, not create tension.
  • Post your message or documents only to the most appropriate discussions or libraries. If one does not exist, consider creating a new discussion.
  • Do not spam several topics or libraries with the same message.
  • Do not post commercial messages in any topic, resource library entry, or other area where others might see it. Contact people directly with product and service information if you believe they are interested and it would benefit them.
  • Use caution when discussing products. Information posted on the topic and in the libraries is available for all to see, and comments are subject to libel, slander, and antitrust laws.
  • All defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal materials are strictly prohibited. Messages of that nature will be immediately deleted, and the member will be removed from the community
  • Please note carefully all items listed in the disclaimer and legal rules below, particularly regarding the copyright ownership of information posted.

Discussion Group Etiquette

  • Include a signature tag on all messages. Include your name, affiliation, and school.
  • State concisely and clearly the topic of your comments in the subject line. This allows members to respond more appropriately to your posting and makes it easier for members to search the archives by subject.
  • If you need to update your e-mail address, school, or position, you do not need to remove yourself from the community and rejoin; simply make the changes in your MyAACN profile.
